Prof. Dr. D. Yelda Kağnıcı, completed her bachelor degree in 1997, graduate degree in 1999 and doctorate degree in 2004 in Middle East Technical University, Guidance and Counseling Program. She worked as a counselor in METU Health Center between 1998 and 2000. Between 2001 and 2003 she worked as an intern counselor in Incarnate Word University Counseling Center, USA. Since 2004 she has been working as a faculty member in Guidance and Counseling program in Ege University and since 2017 she has been the chair of Guidance and Counseling program. Her research interests are counselor training and supervision, multicultural counseling and adaptation of international students.
Since 2011 Turkey has been facing a challenging migration experience. Currently it is expected that are approximately 5 million Syrian refugees in Turkey and most of these refugees are school age children. There are serious efforts to integrate Syrian children into Turkish education system since 2011. This integration experience will be discussed in the panel from the eyes of each parts; Syrian children, Turkish children, Syrian parents and Turkish parents, school administrators, teachers and school counselors.
